About Marrisse Whittaker
Since enrolling as a student many moons ago, at South Shields Marine and Technical College, Marrisse Whittaker has been immersed in the world of story creation, first in films and TV and now as a novelist.

Marrisse first worked as a freelance Make-Up Artist on feature films and TV productions before becoming a scriptwriter for TV series, including Hollyoaks, Byker Grove, and Doctors. Later, she started her own TV production company, Orion TV, with her husband Bob Whittaker, a former Tyne Tees TV Journalist/Producer. Orion TV created a vast range of on-screen content for British and international media organisations.

Marrisse is also a crime thriller novelist, published by Bloodhound Books. Her stories are set in the North East of England. She was a runner-up for The Lindisfarne Prize for Outstanding Crime Fiction in 2020. Marrisse is absolutely delighted to return to South Shields, to help local people to realise their own on-screen story aspirations through this relaxed one-day introductory screenwriting course.
