The awe-inspiring South Tyneside International Magic Festival returns this month bringing some of the world's leading performers to the stage.

The festival, now in its 19th year, runs from 12 to 15 October.

It kicks off with a fun Family Magic Extravaganza on Thursday 12 October, ahead of two spectacular Gala Shows on Friday 13 October and Saturday 14 October - all taking place at The Customs House, South Shields.

Acts range from close up, interactive magic and mesmerising card manipulation to grand illusions, circus acts and stunning aerial displays, as well as acts for younger audiences.

With the Family Magic Extravaganza, little ones can enjoy a magical evening with performances from some of the best in children's entertainment, including Dov Citron (aka Captain Calamity), Professor Parker, Graeme Shaw and Tom Bolton. The show, brought by Magicbox, Newcastle, will be compered by Colin Bourdiec.

Also among the stellar line up is Marc Spelmann, who rose to fame on Britain's Got Talent in 2018 and is the mastermind behind the global phenomenon, Magician X.

Spelmann will be performing on the Friday night Gala Show alongside Dov Citron, Maddox, High Jinx, Yollin Lee, Giancarlo Scalia and Ashleigh Goodwin.

The Saturday evening Gala Show will open with aerialist Deanna Gore, alongside Moritz Mueller, Markobi, Tom Brace, Steve Gore, Michael Jordan and High-Jinx.

Councillor Audrey Huntley, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council with responsibility Culture, Leisure and the Visitor Economy, said: "We are delighted to see the South Tyneside International Magic Festival returning to the Borough again this year.

"It's always a fantastic event that leaves audiences amazes and inspired and gives them a chance to see some of the most amazing acts from around the globe. I'm sure all those who attend any of the shows will have a brilliant evening."

The festival includes a convention where professional magicians turn out in force for a series of special lectures, workshops and a trade show at the Customs House.
