Outstanding Result for South Tyneside Nursery
A South Tyneside nursery has been rated by Ofsted as 'Outstanding.'
The inspector found the Council-run Stanleys at Marine Park as an 'exceptionally caring nursery' where staff give 'phenomenal support' to parents and children. The nursery maintained its previous rating and was rated Outstanding in all areas.
In her report the inspector said: "Staff go above and beyond to give children a rich set of experiences beyond their own. For example, children visit the beach and local supermarkets to expand their experiences and diet."
Staff were also praised for managing children's behaviour well and for embedding strong learning goals across the nursery. The inspector also noted that there is a strong focus on helping children to develop their independence.
Nursery staff have a strong relationship with parents which is built on mutual respect. Parents comment that staff exceed their expectations. They receive help to fill out forms or make appointments and know how they can help their children at home.
The inspector found children with special needs to be 'exceptionally well supported.' Staff were found to have excellent relationships with a range of health professionals, resulting in children receiving the support they need. This means children make rapid progress and begin to catch up with their peers.
The nursery cares for 20 two, three and four-year-olds, many of whom have additional needs. The majority of children speak English as an additional language.
Councillor Adam Ellison, Lead Member for Children, Young People and Families, said: "This is a fantastic result. Early Years education is incredibly important because it provides the building blocks on which future success can be built. It also instils in our children an enthusiasm for learning which is so important.
"This is further evidence that we are succeeding in our mission to give all our children the best start in life."
