Christmas and New Year closures

South Shields and Jarrow Town Halls

South Shields Town Hall will close at 12.30pm on Tuesday 24 December 2024. It will reopen at 10am on Thursday 2 January 2025.

Jarrow Town Hall will close at 3pm on Monday 23 December 2024. It will reopen at 10am on Friday 3 January 2025.

Council Contact Centre (0191 427 7000)

The Customer Contact Centre will close at 6.30pm on Tuesday 24 December and reopen at 8am on Friday 27 December.

It will then close at 6.30pm on Tuesday 31 December and reopen at 8am on Thursday 2 January 2025.

In an emergency and when the Contact Centre is closed, please call the Out of Hours team on 0191 455 6111.

Local Welfare Provision Service (Crisis support)

The Local Welfare Provision Service (Crisis support) will close at 1pm on Tuesday 24 December. A limited service will be in operation on 27, 30 and 31 December between 9.30am and 3.30pm.

Applications for support received after 1pm on 24 December may not be processed until the service reopens on 27 December.

The full Local Welfare Provision service will reopen on Thursday 2 January 2025.

Bin collections

Collections will take place a day later than normal during the festive period.

Family Hubs

There will be one family hub open in each partnership on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 December 2024.

Stanley's Day Care will close at 4pm on Friday 20 December 2024 and will reopen as normal on Tuesday 7 January 2025.

Simonside Climbing Wall will close on Friday 20 December 2024.

It will reopen at 9am on Monday 6 January 2025.

South Tyneside Council Housing Services

Housing Services will close at 12.30pm on 24 December 2024. This is the last day for customers to return keys.

They will continue to provide emergency / urgent repairs services and homelessness can still be reported.

Housing Services will reopen as normal on 2 January 2025.
