Overview
This service is provided by charity Waythrough (formerly Humankind).
They offer friendly and practical support on sexuality and / or gender. This includes the opportunity to meet other young people for support.
They will talk to you about your needs, and agree a support plan tailored for you.
Support available
All reasonable adjustments are based on a young person's needs and on a case-by-case basis.
All staff are fully trained in speech, language and communication needs.
The service can help with:
- one-to-one sessions
- sexual health guidance
- support to access clinical gender identity services
- the opportunity to meet other young people to share experiences
- support for your family, either one to one or together
- hate crime reporting
- fun activities and sessions such as sailing, meals, climbing etc in a safe space
Training and workshops
The services deliver training sessions for professionals and young people.

Who can access the service
You can access the service if you:
- are aged 11 to 25
- identify as, or are questioning your LGBT+ status
- live in South Tyneside
