About this course

This training course is for those who have contact with children, young people and their families and need to understand more about the impact of emotional abuse.


Aims

The aim of this course is to improve participants' understanding and response to children and young people who are being emotionally abused.


Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • Define emotional abuse in the context of current research and policy
  • Identify the signs, symptoms and significant indicators of emotional abuse
  • Recognise the impact of emotional abuse on the child's identity and the impact of family relationships within this context
  • Apply evidence of best practice to inform interventions with families where emotional abuse is a concern or risk, working together to explore professional dilemmas

This course is ran by Russ Saunders, Learning and Development Advisor / Member of the multi-agency Pool of Trainers.

Anyone working with children, adults and families in South Tyneside can apply for a place.
